Food For Thoughts Presents - Hollie McNish + Support
About this event
We are super excited and happy to tell you about our first ever 'Food For Thoughts Presents:' show featuring the amazing Hollie McNish.
Hollie McNish is a published UK poet based between London, Cambridge and Glasgow. She has two previous poetry collections – Cherry Pie and Papers and an album, Versus, which made her the first poet to record at Abbey Road Studios, London.
In February 2016, Blackfriars published her memoir of poetry and parenthood, Nobody Told Me, with which she won the Ted Hughes award. Her latest poetry collection, Plum, is published by Picador
Here, she will be joining us to perform poems, read from and chat honestly and openly from her latest poetry collections.
Expect strong language as she talks fruit and flesh, guilt, sex, politics, death, breasts, transformers and more.
Books will be available to purchase at the event. There will be a book signing afterwards.
There will be four fantastic poets supporting Hollie on the night and it's an absolute pleasure to introduce to you:
ChloeJ Poetry
One of Gloucester's' finest poets, Chloe takes you on a humorous and sometimes provocative journey with through her poems that will have you laughing and crying all at the same time. She has won many slams including being a Semi-finalist of the 2018 Hammer & Tongue National Slam Finals, Royal Albert Hall.
Rusty Goat the Poet
Scott Cowely is a phenomenal poet that kicked down the door to the spoken word scene less than 2 years ago brandishing poems that are etched in his sleeve, and in shoes that have walked a thousand miles. Since then he has set up his own poetry night and taken the crown at many slams. He brings an open hearted and honest look at life through the eyes of the Rusty Goat, and it's one hell of a ride.
Dave Dunwell poetry
Dave, one of our own here who cofounded Food For Thoughts with Stephen Grimes, writes poems in a style that really hits you in the feels. From partying to parenthood, and from love to loss Mr. Dunwell will tell you how it is.
Sarah Snell-Pym Writer and Artist
Saffy! Is the inimitable star stuff poet. She explodes on stage with an infectious energy and fills your heart and head with erratic images, thoughts and feelings. There's never a dull moment with this amazing human in close proximity!
There will also be an open mic at this event. More details to follow soon...
This event will take place in the beautiful Fountain Inn in the their top bar/function room.
