Event description

Description

Holocaust Memorial Day is a national commemoration day in the United Kingdom dedicated to the remembrance of those who suffered in The Holocaust. Holocaust Memorial Day gives us an opportunity to learn the lessons of the past and challenge ourselves to work to end issues like discrimination, racism and all forms of religious intolerance and pledge to help create a safer, better future for our communities.

This year Cllr Sue Fennimore, Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, will be hosting the H&F commemoration (coinciding with Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January).

Throughout this lunch time event, we will be fortunate to have the opportunity to hear the story of Hana Kleiner, a survivor of the Holocaust, she will talk us through her experiences as a child and her journey from Czechoslovakia to the UK.

Alf Dubs, Labour politician and former member of parliament will also be attending, the council have been working with him closely to support his refugee amendment.
