Monica Stern: Kristallnacht
Born in Gateshead in 1955, Monica Stern is the daughter of Jewish parents both of whom were forced to flee Nazi Germany. Her grandparents came to this area in 1939 to re-establish the family manufacturing business on Team Valley Trading Estate. Her father was left with vivid memories of Nazi oppression, the Nuremberg Laws and Kristallnacht. Later in life he felt that it was important to inform people about the dangers of racism and anti-Semitism.
George Loble passed away in February 2021, and Monica is proud to continue her father’s work in Holocaust education.
