This November is the ’16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence’ when, every year, women’s rights campaigners come together to demand an end to violence against women. To mark it, we’re helping raise these women’s voices to the highest level by asking the UK government to support their life-changing work.
ActionAid is inviting politicians, celebrities, campaigners, civil society and other supporters and friends to join us at Holyrood to mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, and to show their support for ActionAid’s Fearless campaign and for the women leading the fight against violence in their communities.
The event will provide an opportunity to network, hear from inspiring women working to challenge violence and learn about ActionAid’s work. We will be joined by some very special speakers making short contributions on the night including:
- Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs (SNP)
- Kezia Dugdale MSP, Leader of the Scottish Labour Party
- Annie Wells MSP, Conservative Spokesperson for Welfare Reform and Equalities
- Girish Menon, Chief Executive, ActionAid UK
- Jessica Njui, Africa Youth Trust, Kenya
- Makena Mwobobia, Head of Programmes, ActionAid Kenya
There will also be a Fearless Gallery featuring an exhibition of photographs documenting the work of activists and survivors of violence. The event is kindly sponsored by Christina McKelvie MSP.
You will not be able to attend the event if you have not RSVPed. Please arrive at 5pm to give enough time to get through security. The event will begin at 5.30pm.
