Home at The Rising Sun: Workshop & Rehearsal

Reside Dance are looking for 15, local 11 -15 years olds & 15 adults (16 years - to any age) to take part in a dance workshop and rehearsal that lead to two performances of Home at The Rising Sun Arts Centre, Reading. Participants of all abilities are invited to perform with Reading's newest professional dance company and together, reimagine the arts centre as a place of home. Workshops will draw upon contemporary dance techniques and processes from dance theatre and social choreography. The promenade performances will invite audience members on an immersive and interactive journey through the arts centre and facilitate creative patterns of use through dance, poetry, music, video projection and sculpture.
Workshop and rehearsal, 2:30 - 5 pm: £3.00 for 11 - 15 year olds and £5.00 for 16+ (to any age) plus VAT.
Participants must arrive between 2:15 - 2:25 pm to ensure that workshops begin on time. Participants under 18 will need their parents or guardians to sign a photography and film consent form. Forms will be made available on the day before workshops for parents and guardians to sign or beforehand on request at email@example.com. All participants under 18 must have a signed photography and film consent form before they begin workshops.
There will be a break between 5 - 6 pm. It is prefered if participants can bring their own food and drinks however, a DBS checked Dance Artist will be available to accompany 11 - 15 year olds if they need to leave the premises to buy food. Food is not available at The Rising Sun Arts Centre. Participants will need to bring comfortable clothing and shoes that they are able to rehearse in along with water. For the performances, participants will be required to bring a plain, brightly coloured top and black leggins or trousers that they are able to dance in. Pumps, trainers or dance shoes will also need to be worn. Performances will finish at 7 pm however, participants will be asked to fill in a short evaluative questionnaire which should take no longer than 10 minutes.
Closed performance (invited audience only): 6 pm
Open performance (all welcome): 6:30 pm. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance seperately through Eventbrite.
