Speakers and presentations
Talk 1: Dr Rebekah Luff (National Programme Manager of My Home Life England, City St George’s, University of London)
Title: Leadership in Home Care Services – What works well?
Summary: In this presentation, we explore what good leadership looks like at a branch and organisational level within home care, and how managers respond to the challenging environment in which they operate. The project grew from both My Home Life England’s professional development work with homecare leaders and from wider conversations with providers about a desire to better understand and to be able to share what they have found works well.
Talk 2: Dr Lesley Williamson (Cicely Saunders Institute of Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation and NIHR Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit, King’s College London)
Title: PALLDEM-Homecare: Homecare workers providing end-of-life care for people with dementia
Summary: Lesley will introduce a new research project funded by Marie Curie and the Alzheimer's Society, PALLDEM-Homecare. This study explores the implementation of a tool to help homecare workers provide end-of-life care to people with dementia. Lesley will outline the project and share some preliminary findings of a review exploring how best to implement interventions that support homecare workers to provide palliative and end-of-life care.
