Discover the wonders of the woodlands in all weathers. This is a wonderful opportunity for your children to spend an extended time outdoors, really connecting to and nurturing their independent, adventurous, creative, natural selves; alongside a talented art specialist and an experienced outdoors educator.
Over the 6 week course the children will have a unique opportunity to uncover the hidden mysteries of these special woods as well as developing a variety of practical and artistic skills. We will enjoy walking, playing, climbing, building and making together. We will be outside whatever the weather and every week we will enjoy a special campfire style snack.
11/11/16: Exploring and getting to know the woodlands together. We will introduce some artists’ techniques to help us learn to look and see in new ways.
18/11/16: Gathering natural materials to make our own brushes and printing tools and create images that represent our experiences of the woods.
25/11/16: Shelter is a basic human need and this week we will have a lot of fun exploring different den making techniques.
2/12/16: Celebrate National and International Tree Dressing Day as we appreciate the trees by decorating them. Learn how to make ‘magic thread’ and clay tree spirit faces.
9/12/16: Learning the ancient art of building and lighting fires, each child will have the opportunity to practise individually until they have mastered this most important of skills.
16/12/16: In our final week we will bring together all our skills and creativity to celebrate trees and woods and all they bring to us. Children will be free to focus on any of the previous workshop elements that they were most intrigued by.
