About this event

Enjoy a variety of activities ranging from; hands-on galleries, clay crafts, tours, arty activities and storytime, with other home educators. Some of the sessions are based on skills and subjects taught in our Flag Fen schools learning sessions and others will include an educational focus on seasonal festivities and subjects outside of our schools and learning programme.

Home schooling families are welcome to visit as individuals or as part of a home education community or group.

During Home Educator sessions we relax the age groups so that older and younger siblings can attend our schools' events together. While the content and style of the session is targeted at KS2 (Age 7+), it's still a great opportunity for socialising and networking with other Home Educators in the area.

Recommended for reception age 4/5 and above to participate.

Friday 5 September - Romans and archaeology

Friday 10 October - Mythical beasts and magic

Friday 7 November - Bushcraft and orienteering

Friday 19 December - details to be confirmed

Flag Fen is famous for being the site of an ancient bronze age causeway, discovered by Time Team’s Francis Pryor. At Flag Fen, you can discover what life was like for our prehistoric ancestors in a reconstructed Bronze Age village. See an uncovered section of the ancient causeway which once led bronze age people to their place of worship. Get a chance to view some exceptionally rare objects, including one of the earliest examples of a man-made wheel, as well as swords, jewellery and personal items which were buried here as part of ritual offerings to the watery ‘fen’. A children’s play area, a cafe, and a flock of free-roaming Soay sheep (plus countless forms of wildlife) also makes it a perfect family s day out.
