Topple, Bump & Roll workshop - This workshop is designed to develop children’s creative and problem solving skills as they apply their understanding of forces to a Design and Technology challenge. Children will work in pairs (with another child or their adult) to build and test their own chain reaction, or Rube Goldberg Machine, using simple materials.
Joining Forces show - How does a person survive a fall from an aeroplane? Can trains be made to float? What stops us from sliding around? Isaac Newton is famous for many things, but his Laws of Motion are possibly the most important, explaining how we get things moving. We investigate these laws and look at the various forces we encounter every day. Gravity, magnetism, friction and air resistance are all demonstrated to help push children in to thinking and talking about the forces that affect us every day.
