Home safety for the under 5s: Supporting families to avoid accidents
Overview
If you’re a practitioner who works with families with young children, join the Child Accident Prevention Trust for this 2.5 hour live interactive training course to:
- Discover the links between childhood accidents and child development
- Learn the most recent advice about how families can avoid accidents and keep children safe
- Explore effective ways of engaging parents with imaginative techniques that are easy to put into place
- Know how to use CAPT’s resources to support conversations with families about avoiding accidents
Our training will explain the links between accidents and child development, specific risks at different stages and vulnerability factors, enabling you to weave safety advice into your conversations with parents, including at developmental reviews.
As the poorest children are over-represented in preventable accidents, our training will help you empower vulnerable parents to improve child safety.
The course also offers opportunity for discussion and sharing experiences of best practice from other practitioners working with families.
Join us to make the most of every contact with parents and offer practical, evidence-based advice on home safety for the under-fives.
