Hosted by Talk Autism: Talk Autism is a forum for parents and carers of children, young people and adults with autism in Merton. We run monthly events for parents and carers on autism-related matters – for example, a talk about managing behaviours, establishing sleep patterns and routines. We also run social events so parents and carers can meet each other, and we have a Talk Autism Whatsapp group where we post latest news.
ABOUT THIS EVENT:
Home-Start Merton is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under five years of age.
We will be joined by Yvonne Dawes, Family Support Co-ordinator at Home-Start Merton who will tell us about their local services plus how you could help a family by volunteering with Home-Start.
The session will include details about:
- who is Home-Start UK and Home-Start Merton - how they help families
- available services and support, and how to access them
- how parents can use their own parenting journey to help others and become part of the Home-Start Merton community.
Yvonne will be explaining how Home-Start’s volunteers support parents to boost their wellbeing, gain confidence, meet others and gain work experience. Details about volunteering with Home-Start Merton will also be available which offer parents a meaningful and rewarding way to support communities while also improving their own mental health. Volunteering can reduce stress, connects parents to others, increase confidence, and help develop skills for future employment.
