Come and join creative book club! At homegrown poets we host a book club every 6 weeks celebrating authors from all over the world. This month's read is ‘Strega’ by Johanne Lykke Holm. Strega is named for the fictional town on the side of the Italian mountains, home to the Olympic Hotel, where a group of nine young girls are sent to work for the summer as maids. When one of them goes missing, the girls come face to face with society's submission to violence, and the age-long myths that uphold it. At homegrown you can expect open discussion with womxn, followed by an hour craft session. This month's craft will be inspired by Huck weaving, the Swedish traditional embroidery. We will be supplying all of the materials, please feel free to bring needle/thread if you have your own. Strega is available at most local libraries. Any queries, please contact @homegrownpoets on Instagram.
