About this event

In 2021 Shared Lives Plus are supporting different areas across Scotland to develop Homeshare schemes. This workshop session is to introduce Homeshare and detail the plans and support available.

It is aimed at leaders and commissioners in housing and social care and aims to recruit interested areas to the national programme.

About Homeshare UK

We are the UK and ROI network for Homeshare organisations.

Homeshare brings together people with spare rooms with people who are happy to chat and lend a hand around the house in return for affordable, sociable accommodation. Together, Householders and Homesharers share home life, time, skills and experience.

All of the organisations in our network carefully vet, match and oversee each unique Homeshare arrangement.

Organiser Ben Hall - Shared Lives Plus

Organiser of Homeshare in Scotland

Shared Lives Plus is the UK network for family-based and small-scale ways of supporting adults. Our members are Shared Lives carers and workers, and Homeshare programmes. Shared Lives used to be known as Adult Placement.

Our members are individual Shared Lives carers, Shared Lives schemes, Homeshare providers and micro-enterprises. They use different approaches to enable people to achieve goals such as:

  • being in control of their services and their lives.
  • pursuing ordinary lives within their chosen families and relationships.
  • being valued by their communities and feeling like they belong.

  SharedLivesPlus' members deliver or coordinate services which:

  • are built around individuals, their strengths and potential;
  • promote equality and value diversity;
  • are safe but support people to take risks in pursuit of their goals;
  • are cost-effective, with consistently better outcomes than alternatives.
