Event description

Description

You’re invited to a play reading and discussion, focused on the experience of carers and patients of palliative care in the NHS. Homeward Bound was written by the award-winning playwright, Brian Daniels, and is sponsored by the National Council for Palliative Care. Excepts of the play have been broadcast on Radio 4, but we'll have a full 30min performance.

The play dramatizes the experience of Lesley as she cares for her husband Seth through his experience of pancreatic cancer. After the play, we’ll hear from Lesley herself, as she discusses her real experiences, before opening the floor to a discussion involving both health professional students (nursing, medicine, pharmacy and dentistry) and alumni. We hope that you’ll also benefit from sharing Lesley’s experience, something that will become important for many of us. We gratefully acknowledge the Alumni for funding this project.

Duration: 30 minute reading followed by 30 - 60 minute presentation and discussion

Cost: Free for alumni, students and staff
