About this event
Join us for a unique workshop processing honey straight from a beehive!
The Wash House Garden's two beehives have been a hive (get it) of activity all summer, with the busy bees foraging from the abundance of the garden and other local flora.
Now it's time to harvest some of the abundance from the hives, and we invite you to join us in the process.
We’ll go through the process of harvesting honey, to removing the honey “supers” from the hive, to jarring and labelling the finished product. We’ll also have some tasty, honey based treats on hand made by the wonderful team as Soul Food Sisters. To top it all, of we’ll have a selection of honeys from a variety of sources to taste and compare, and of course, you’ll take away a jar of the honey you’ll help to process!
This event is for adults only and for those based in the East End of Glasgow only. Please provide your postcode upon booking a ticket!
This event will start at 2.30pm and finish at 4.30pm. All ages welcome!
Please let us know of any dietary requirements. Hot drinks and tasty food snacks will be provided.
There will be no direct contact with the bees!

About the organisers:
The Wash House Garden are a Workers Co-operative of Queer Community Growers, stewarding a beautiful piece of land in East Glasgow. We seek to actively contribute to the struggles for food sovereignty and land justice in Glasgow, Scotland and beyond.
The Wash House Garden was borne out of a desire to feel a sense of mutual support and solidarity in a society in which communities have been decimated across the generations, and to grow and eat delicious food that nourished body and soul, soil and planet in spite of our globalised, environmentally damaging, and frankly bland modern food system.
Faced with these at times overwhelming issues, and in the hope of inspiring ripples of change, here in Glasgow’s East End we are taking a small step in the direction we would like to see our society, environment and economy move in.
Soul Food Sisters (SFS):
Soul Food Sisters is a collective of migrant and local women based in East Glasgow, united by a passion for authentic food.
Through the exchange of recipes, ideas, and skills, they enhance women's lives and combat social isolation. As a not-for-profit organization, SFS connects women from diverse backgrounds, empowering them to cultivate their talents in the kitchen and beyond.
