Hong Kong Ready Welcome - a special evening of inspiration and information
Event Information
About this Event
Thousands of people from Hong Kong have arrived in the UK this year and up to 120 000 more are expected to arrive throughout the year. This will be the fastest and largest planned migration of people to the UK from outside of Europe since Windrush.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the church to play its part in welcome and witness with these newcomers. Join us for a very special evening on Zoom.
The event will be hosted by Dr Krish Kandiah
Speakers include:
Nicky Gumbel ( Vicat at HTB Church ) Henry Lu (COCM) Chine McDonald (BBC Radio 4 & Christians Aid ) Winston Marshall (Mumford and Sons) Katherine Chou (HTB Church ) Emily Holden (Welcome Churches) Mark Nam (British Born Chinese Vicar from Bristol ) Cllr Alex Yip (Birmingham City Council Rachel Gardner (Youthscape) Katherine Chou (HTB Church leadership team) Nichola Thomas (Southwark Diocese) Paul Harcourt (New Wine) and many more...
We will spend time:
- looking at how Christians can fight racism with hospitality
- learning about some of the cultural, political and historic factors that will influence how we best welcome new arrivals from Hong Kong
- listening to the experiences of people who have recently arrived from Hong Kong.
- learning practical ways our churches can be Hong Kong Ready.
- praying about how we can show love and compassion to the newcomers.
There are limited spaces so book your place now. By paying for your ticket you are helping us to provide the logistical, practical and training needed to equip churches to show the love and compassion of God to new arribals from Hong Kong. Thank you for your support.
This event will build on the previous Hong Kong Ready live event that was held in January. But if you are joining us for the first time there will be plenty to learn and enjoy too.
