Honouring the Earth: Ecowomanist Workshop
Event Information
About this Event
This is a closed event for BIPOC and QTBIPOC only. Please be mindful when booking.
From an ecowomanist perspective, the trees stand as living witness. But so too does the earth. Exploited by countless industries in the name of industrialization and globalization, the earth today is crying out – storming, flooding, drying out, forcing us all to see the uncanny resemblance between the logic of domination in the oppressive system of slavery and sharecropping, and the logic of domination at work in anthropocentric attitudes that reduce all other beings to unimportant “other.”- Melanie L. Harries
In this workshop we will together explore the interconnectivity of nature, spirit, and human beings. We will be looking at the theory and practice of Ecowomanism and how it centres the voices and experiences of women of colour in particular black women as they engage in earth justice.
About the workshop leader:
Idman is an environmentalist whose interests lie in exploring the complex relationships between racial, social, environmental justice and colonial histories. Idman currently works on community-led projects focusing on food growing, wellbeing and environmental education in East London.
