About this event
Hope for Justice - Myth Busting Modern Slavery
NHS England reports that one in eight NHS staff think they have seen a victim of trafficking in their clinical practice and one in five victims of modern slavery report coming into contact with healthcare services during the time they were trafficked so this Lunch and Learn session is aimed at staff working within healthcare and will give an overview of modern slavery and exploitation in the UK today.
The training will provide definitions and help you to recognise the signs of when a person may be being exploited or may be at risk of exploitation. It will include definitions, facts and figures, case studies and a video to explore the subject. Guidance will also be given on where to go for help and advice for themselves and/or others.
This free online learning event will be led by Ruth Packwood, Training Specialist with Hope for Justice, a charity with a mission to bring an end to modern slavery and human trafficking. Hope for Justice have recently dealt with referrals from maternity services, drug and alcohol services, TB clinics and emergency and walk-in centres so it is clear that healthcare staff are at the forefront of helping to identify potential victims and bringing them to the attention of those who can offer the appropriate support and care.
*The event will be hosted on Microsoft Teams and the link will be emailed ahead of the event. *
