Event description

Description

11th & 12th July 2019

Bookings are now open for the16th annual conference of the United Kingdom Association for Solution Focused Practice (UKASFP), and this year we are returning to the beautiful city of Bath, the venue for the sell-out 2011 conference, where we will be in the delightful surroundings of Bath Spa University.

Alongside our theme of HOPE, the two keywords underpinning the conference ethos are collective and interactive. Our annual conference is a key moment in the year, when we come together to talk, share and do things together, in a spirit of collaboration and fellowship. This conference offers us this wonderful opportunity, to learn from each other, and to hear about many of the developments taking place in the solution-focused field.

Keynote speakers will include John Henden - local lad made good! - who is making such a huge impact around the world presenting his work applying solution-focused ideas to suicide prevention, trauma and stress; and Anne Rambo, who we are grateful to for coming over from the United States to share her groundbreaking ideas on solution-focused practice, social change, cultural competence and larger systems issues. There will be many others taking part, from the centre, edges, and outside of the solution-focused approach, from whom we can learn.

FREE - PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS - This year, as well as the now-established full two days, we will be offering two pre-conference workshops - at no extra cost to conference participants* - on 10th July 10.30am - 4.30pm. An introductory/refresher workshop will be run by your hosts, Guy Shennan and Rob Black, and there will be a workshop from the Zebra Collective, the South West based workers co-operative whose solution-focused work is based on core values of social and environmental justice.

If you wish to attend one of these workshops, select the option available when registering for the conference. Please note the 2 workshops run simultaneously so only 1 should be selected to attend when making your booking.

On the evening of 11th July, we will have a barbecue, followed by the now traditional cabaret, with all welcome to get up and perform at the open mic spot.

And all of this at remarkably low prices!

The Early Bird rate for members, students and unwaged is only £95, and for Non-Members the Early Bird rate is only £125. After the 12th April the Standard Rates will be Member £125 & Non-Member £155.

As well as all the conference activities and the option of a pre-conference workshop, this fee also covers the Thursday evening barbecue and cabaret, all conference refreshments*, and lunches on both Thursday and Friday.

Bath Spa University have a number of rooms available, at the Newton Park campus (the conference venue) and at Green Park House in Bath city centre. For accommodation options, further information & conference timings please contact admin@ukasfp.org

Parking on site is pay and display, however a discounted permit will be available to purchase at registration for the price of £10 for the entirety of the conference.

* There will be a small extra charge for the cost of refreshments at the pre-conference workshops.
