Vision2020: The Horizon Network are pleased to announce that we will be holding our first Horizon 2020 Training Event in central London on 4th September 2015. The focus of this workshop will be Innovation Management. The workshop will be split into two parts: the first part will provide the theoretical background to innovation management, and will be delivered by an internationally recognised innovation expert (details below). The second part will involve participating in a mock evaluation, in which attendees will be asked to review 2 real Horizon 2020 proposals, participate in a consensus evaluation, and put into practice the knowledge gained from the morning session.

We are pleased to confirm that Eugene Sweeney (PhD, BSc, FIMA, FIILP, FBCS, CEng, CITP, CMath) will be delivering this workshop. Eugene Sweeney is currently the Managing Director of Iambic Innovation Ltd, which he founded in 2000. He has over 30 years of experience commercialising research results and intellectual property.
Eugene Sweeney is currently the Managing Director of Iambic Innovation Ltd, which he founded in 2000. He has over 30 years of experience commercialising research results and intellectual property.
His background is technical and commercial, and his career experience encompasses research, industry and early stage technology investment.
- During the 1970s he was a researcher in computer modelling and simulation, and his first spin-out was formed in 1978 based on his research.
- During the 1980s he worked in the micro-computer and network industry, where he was responsible for developing and licensing-in new technologies and taking them to market.
- During the 1990’s he worked for an international early stage technology investment, development and commercialisation organisation; responsible for the development and exploitation of new technologies, IP and research results through various vehicles including equity investments, start-ups and licensing.
- In 2000 he formed Iambic Innovation Ltd, and now provides consultancy in the area of IPR, Innovation and the exploitation of research results.
He has also worked for over 23 years with the European Commission as a proposal evaluator, rapporteur, project reviewer, consultant and expert in the areas of IPR, Innovation and ICT.
He is currently an external expert and trainer for the European Commission IPR Helpdesk, and also regularly contributes to other events and training courses worldwide on innovation, IPR and the practical exploitation of research.
He represents the UK on the International (ISO) and European (CEN) Standards Committees on Innovation Management.

Slides from the event will be presented on the day only, and will not be provided seperately.
