Get ready to uncover the secrets of Horley and the surrounding areas! Join our friendly group of passionate history enthusiasts on the first Saturday of every month for a fascinating journey through time.

We've got an amazing collection of maps, books, and photographs, all bursting with incredible stories. Our experts will be on hand to answer your questions about local history and even help you trace your own family roots.

Grab a free cup of tea or coffee and some biscuits while you dive into the past. You never know what you might find—maybe even a royal connection! Come along and see what discoveries you'll make.

Frequently asked questions

Is there Parking?

YES - Plenty of car parks are available in Horley town centre, just a short walk from the Library. Additionally, free 2-hour parking is available at the Waitrose opposite. Please check signage, as the Historical Society is not responsible or liable for any parking fines.

Can children attend?

YES - All are welcome, especially youngsters to be able to learn about our history!

Are refreshments provided?

YES - We have a small selection of tea, coffee and cold drinks available. We also provide biscuits. PLEASE NOTE: we do not cater for allergies and intolorences, and therefore ask if you do have any of those, please refrain from handling or digesting the biscuits.

Do I have to pay?

NO - These monthly events are free to attend.

I can't make this event, will you be holding others?

YES - These events will take place on the first Saturday of the month.

What is the difference between this "Open Morning Event" and the usual Saturday mornings?

While we have a small presence at the library each week, these exclusive monthly events allow us to have a bigger showcase in the private meeting rooms, complete with free refreshments. It's the perfect opportunity to dive deeper into our collection and get a more personal experience.
