A special screening of: THE (M) FACTOR: SHREDDING THE SILENCE ON MENOPAUSE, produced by Women in the Room Productions and Take Flight Productions.
Menopause remains one of the last taboos in ourpermissive, talk-about-everything pop culture world. It’s not a condition or a disease, it’s just another stage in a woman’s life, like puberty but in reverse. Despite this ubiquity, the actual chemical “re-ordering of every female adult body throughout history” has gone unexamined, except, too often, as whispered horror stories or as overworked punchlines until now. THE (M) FACTOR: SHREDDING THE SILENCE ON MENOPAUSE will put menopause front and center in the discussions surrounding women’s health – and give women “permission” to talk frankly about their bodies while giving them the tools to navigate their journey with ease, peace of mind and respect for their bodies. The documentary speaks directly to how the medical profession and society at large have failed to meet this crisis with the focus and expertise required. The film also sheds light on disparities faced by Black and Brown women as they assess their treatment options. In addition, the documentary will unpack the negative cultural assumptions that so many women face from puberty through menopause.
