A fully functioning café that blends art with the everyday, Hunt & Darton Cafe is a social and artistic hub where spontaneity and performance meet great food and drink.
Popping up at 4 The Studios for Hornsey Street Festival, Hunt & Darton Cafe will be offering Afternoon Tea with a twist. Hunt & Darton in their iconic fruit or veggie attire will encourage playful participation and meaningful social encounters through their comic interaction, performances, and theme days. Declaring this day as Neighbours Day, expect to be introduced to EVERYONE, take part in the much loved ‘Not Great British Bake Off’ or Hunt & Darton Sports Day, a free durational raffle and the chance to buy a trifle to feed the whole cafe. Food on offer includes Battenberg cake, sugar sandwiches and coco pops- and no! You are not too old to have coco pops! At Hunt & Darton Cafe we are proud to satisfy appetites in more ways than one.
This isn’t a café with art in it – this is a café that IS art, a place to belong and a place to play. Hunt & Darton is a Live Art collaboration between Jenny Hunt and Holly Darton. They have both practiced Art since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2003 and been working together for 8 years. Approaching Live Art from a Fine Art background they work across mediums with a sculptural approach to performance, choreographing words and movement in a sensory way and setting up alternative spaces – often creating installations to perform within. The work derives from shared celebrations and anxieties surrounding life choices particularly as women, in Britain, now.
