This insightful session will cover:
National Minimum Wage: Many employers who believe they pay at or above the national minimum wage actually fall foul of the complex legislation and HMRC’s interpretations. You may have seen in the news that many large employers are finding themselves on the Government's ‘naming and shaming’ list, and are needing to pay thousands of pounds in back pay to employees, as well as fines with a headline rate of 200%. HMRC have increased their focus in this area with an increased budget of £25m and almost a four fold increase in Inspectors and are systematically reviewing businesses for national minimum wage compliance.
Gender Pay Gap Reporting: All organisations with 250 or more employees will have reported their gender pay gap by 5 April 2018. Not only is the seemingly simple calculation more complex than first meets the eye, but reports of any level of gender pay gap can have an impact your workforce. The internal and external messaging is key and many organisations are choosing to take a wider look at their workforce and pay structures to determine the reasons behind the gap as we move into what is effectively the third year of the reporting requirements.
Auto re-enrolment: As auto enrolment rates increase from 1 April and will increase again in 2019, we will take a look at the impact these increases will have on employers, the opt out rates by pension members and also what employers can do to manage ongoing costs and compliance.
