Event description

Description

The Buildings Archaeology Group are pleased to present a tour of House Mill.

House Mill, a Grade I listed building, was constructed in 1776. A mill was recorded on this site as early as Domesday and the existing building is the largest tidal mill in the world.

After over 150 years in use the mill was closed and used for storage. The building survived demolition in the post war period and survives today with many intact fixtures and fittings.

The site, which forms part of the Three Mills complex, is one of London’s hidden gems and a highly significant industrial site and historic building.

We invite you to join us for a tour of the building by House Mill’s experienced tour guides.

The price includes for a tour of this fascinating building and a tea and cake in the Millers Café. The Miller’s Café is in the location of the Miller’s House, a late eighteenth century building which was completely raised during the blitz and rebuilt in the 1990s.

Further information about the mill can be found here: http://www.housemill.org.uk/

For further information about the tour please contact the CIfA at groups@archaeologists.net
