Event description

Description

The House of Common Affairs is an evening consisting of fancy discussions about the fourth estate utopias. We will be debating the role of visual makers within the journalistic field and if subjectivity has a place there; questioning if it’s okay for designers to make work that only their friends and family would understand; trying to answer whether superficial, but beautiful creations should be a virtue in design practice; deliberating if designers are solving or merely maintaining problems in society; and ethnocentrism in design practice. 5pm –6pm Presentations from Noortje van Eekelen (http://www.noortjevaneekelen.nl/) and Belle Phromchanya (http://www.nuankhanit.com/), and Ruben Pater (http://untold-stories.net/). 6pm–8pm Informal discussion with Ken Hollings (http://kenhollings.blogspot.co.uk/), Monika Parrinder (https://www.rca.ac.uk/more/staff/monika-parrinder/), Massimiliano Fusari (http://www.massimedia.com/) and others to be confirmed. Moderated by Paula Minelgaite Wednesday 26/04/2017 Art Bar, RCA Space for non-RCA is very limited.
