Begin your visit to the House of the Binns with a tea, coffee and shortbread before commencing on our guided tour.
Enjoy rich storytelling and an impressive collection of family portraits, furniture and porcelain that reveals the lives and interests of the family through the centuries.
The House of the Binns is the only National Trust for Scotland property that is still home to the family whose ancestors first built it. When Eleanor Dalyell gave the Binns to the Trust in 1944, the deed of gift retained the right of the family to live here, under the Country Houses Scheme.
The unique interest of the Binns lies in the family that has lived here for over 400 years. The house and contents richly reflect their history and, through them, the history of Scotland.
