Housing & Homelessness Forum IV (hosted by Red Letter Christians UK)
Event Information
About this Event
As we've connected with Red Letter Christians around our UK network, we realised that many of us are doing similar work in our cities and communities, both in practical hands-on service and in campaigning for long-term structural change regarding housing and homelessness.
This short interactive Zoom discussion will give those of us working in (or interested in working in) this space an opportunity to connect with one another, share ideas and resources and pray together. (You will receive the Zoom Password when you register).
This is our 4th interactive online forum to discuss issues related to housing and homelessness and the impact of the pandemic on how these crises are being addressed (in both negative and positive ways). You can join the ongoing discussion as part of the RLC UK Housing & Homelessness Facebook group where both the recording and notes from previous forums are available.
Red Letter Christians UK's Ian Rutherford (Manchester), Dave Mann (East London) and Danielle Wilson (Birmingham) will facilitate our discussion. Our previous discussed focussed on Befriending, Capital Investment and the new government guidance around Night Shelters.
As part of our discussions so far, a key issue for lobbying and action was identified as NRPF (No Recourse to Public Funds). Failures in the asylum system and the horror of human trafficking can’t be disconnected from these issues of housing and homelessness. Red Letter Christians UK is working with a network of organisations to campaign to abolish NRPF, beginning with addressing the issue of maternity debt for indigent women. If you would like to get involved specifically in addressing NRPF, join the campaign here.
