Event description

Description

Join Place North West and PlaceFirst as we examine opportunities for creating communities in the private rented sector, concentrating on neighbourhoods beyond the city centre PRS apartment market, at this special half-day conference.

The event will provide a critical view of the PRS industry, and topics will include funding models, forming partnerships between developers and local authorities, changing tenant demographics, designing sustainable communities and accelerating supply to tackle the crisis in the provision of housing for working families and other households that rely on the private rented sector for their housing needs.

Speakers confirmed so far include:

Cllr Frank Hont, cabinet member for housing, Liverpool City Council

Heath Thomas, head of real estate finance, North West, Royal Bank of Scotland

Thomas Brown, regeneration manager, Lancaster City Council

Caroline Baker, partner, development and planning, Cushman & Wakefield

Steve Modric, strategy manager, Homes & Communities Agency

David Smith-Milne, managing director, PlaceFirst

Senior representative of Jeffrey Bell Architects

Anthony Breach, analyst, Centre for Cities

Paul Beardmore, director of housing, Manchester City Council

The conference will feature presentations, case studies and panel discussions. There will be ample opportunity for you to put forward questions about your projects and test concepts for family PRS to the speakers – all are experts already actively delivering rental housing.

Housing the Forgotten Majority is due to take place at the Museum of Science & Industry on Thursday 23 November, starting from 8am and finishing at 12 noon followed by lunch.
