Description

Drama workshops to create a show on women and self image. Does that ring your bells?

We're developing an intergenerational company and are looking for material and performers. These workshops will kick off the writing of a companion piece to "Baring the Weight", written 40 years ago inspired by Susie Orbach's iconic book Fat is a Feminist Issue. "Baring the Weight" was relentlessly funny, featuring philosophical songs:

("why is it... every time my mother rings me on the phone.... I want a Mars Bar?")

The double bill, "Baring the Weight" and the piece created from these workshops "How Am I Looking Now?" will be performed at the New Diorama Theatre at the end of March and the company will perform both plays.

What’s happened to women and their bodies in 40 years?
