About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

The City of Edinburgh Council is developing its approach to Community Wealth Building (CWB). This is a form of economic development that aims to build a fairer and stronger local economy that works for everyone. It does so by supporting the creation and retention of wealth in local economies, and by giving local people more control over that wealth.

Community Wealth Building presents an important opportunity to support and grow existing work to tackle socio-economic inequalities and eradicate poverty in the city. The Council is currently developing a Community Wealth Building plan to set out its priority actions for the future. As part of this process, we would like to partners across the city to understand:

  • How can we use Community Wealth Building to tackle existing inequalities in Edinburgh?
  • What actions should the Council take to maximise the impact of Community Wealth Building in Edinburgh?

We work across four main areas: raising awareness, community engagement, research and dialogue.  We aim to use creative approaches to get people thinking and talking about equality and rights. For more information visit our website at www.equalityandrightsnetwork.org.uk
