Hosted by the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation, the LSE’s Grantham Research Institute, Leeds University’s Sustainability Research Institute in partnership with UK Finance and the Place-Based Climate Action Network (PCAN).

How can banks and investors best support a just transition in Edinburgh and Scotland – in other words, help to build a resilient net zero economy that’s inclusive for workers, communities and consumers? We invite you to join us to address this critical question at a workshop in Edinburgh on 2nd October.

The Scottish Government has committed to a net zero economy within a generation with legislation that requires the “principles of the just transition” to be considered when climate change plans are made. At a national level, investors and banks are recognising that a just transition is key to climate success. The aim of the workshop is to identify how finance can be mobilised for this, drawing on the expertise of national experience and the expertise of the city’s finance sector, its public authorities, business, trade unions and local communities.

This invitation-only event will have 20-30 participants. It is organised as a prelude to the launch of the Edinburgh Climate Commission by PCAN, led by the University of Edinburgh.

The organising team will share findings from the workshop soon after the event so that practical next steps can be taken and lessons can be learned in other cities.
