Event description:

Labour’s New Towns programme is a crucial part of its housing delivery story. Having set up the New Towns Taskforce, a dozen sites selected, and construction due to start before the next election, these urban extensions and new sites will represent a visible indicators of the Government’s success.

This event will address the following questions:

  • How can Labour make a success of New Towns?
  • How can Labour create new communities and economies within these and ensure that New Towns live up to their promise?
  • What lessons can Labour learn from the success and failure of previous New Towns?
  • What role do SMEs and Registered Providers play in the creation of New Towns?
  • Who else needs to be included in the New Towns conversation to ensure their success?

Format:

The event will begin with 5-7 minute contributions from the panellists, followed by some questions from the chair, and a short Q&A from the audience, collected in batches of three. The event will finish promptly at 16:30.
