Event description
This webinar on 17 June is for councillors to find out how their council can take urgent action to help the UK meet its climate targets.

About this event

The government has recently committed to cut the UK's carbon emissions by 78% by 2035. This will require concerted action at all levels, including councils.

Join this webinar on Thursday 17 June 2021 to find out how your council can take urgent action to help the UK meet its climate targets and how we can work together to secure the powers and resources councils need.

We'll also introduce you to some key tools you can use to help tackle the climate crisis in your area.

This webinar is for councillors in every tier of local government, in England, Wales & Northern Ireland. This webinar is co-hosted by Climate Emergency UK, Friends of the Earth and My Society.

What to expect?

  • Learn what your council can do to take urgent and immediate climate action
  • Hear case studies from other local councils to find out what they're doing to tackle the climate crisis
  • Find out about the co-benefits of climate action including health, wellbeing and economic benefits
  • Network with other councillors

Who's this event for?

This webinar is for any councillors who are interested in taking climate action in their area. We particularly welcome sign ups from councillors who were newly elected in the May 2021 elections.
