Event description

Description

Human violence seems to be everywhere. It often feels like we cannot pick up a
newspaper or turn on the television without being confronted with fresh stories
of murder, gang wars and terrorism. But where do the origins of violence actually lie? Are humans
biologically driven to violence? Does an investigation of human psychology hold
the answer? Should we examine human societies and social relations? And, how can we respond to violence to reduce its occurrence? This event explores the
phenomenon of violence through accessible and engaging presentations from four
academic researchers from the Universities of Salford and Manchester: Dr Muzammil Quraishi, Dr Clare Allely, Mr Jon Shute and Dr Anthony Ellis. These presentations will be followed by debate and discussion involving the audience.
