'How Change Happens': Duncan Green's Book Launch
Wed 16 November 2016, 12:00 – 14:00 GMT
Join us at the School of International Development, University of East Anglia, for Duncan Green's new book "How Change Happens" with a Q&A on working in the development sector.
Duncan Green is Oxfam GB's Senior Strategic Advisor. He also teaches on international development at the London School of Economics, where he is a Professor in Practice. His blog is one of the most widely read on international development, and is name after his book "From Poverty to Power".
"How Change Happens" (OUP, October 2016) explores how political and social change takes place, and the role of individuals and organisations in influencing that change. Duncan discusses the challenges that 'systems thinking' creates for traditional aid practices and how a 'power and systems approach' requires activists, whether in campaigns, companies or governments, to fundamentally rethink the way they understand the world and try to influence it.
We'll walk you through the issues in the book and you'll have a chance to challenge, engage and add your own perspectives. There will also be the opportunity to purchase a copy for just £10 (RRP £16.99).
