About this event

This is the first of a series of 5 virtual ‘coffee mornings’ organised by the Arts, Communication and Culture research community at the University of Westminster.

In this coffee morning, Dr Alison Eardley (UoW, Psychology) will address this topic in relation to her ACC community-funded project,’ We are Anacostia: Exploring place-identity, belonging, memory and the relationship between the Anacostia Community Museum and its local communities’.

We will then open up the discussion on How do communities access culture? The discussion will focus not only on how institutions, such as museums, are facilitating access to culture, but also on how communities whose voice is not represented in institutions share and access their own culture.

For ACC, this is an urgent question to be addressed as it is directly related to community resilience in times of COVID-19, when the pandemic is opening up new opportunities for accessing culture online, but may also disconnect culture from local communities.

This will be an opportunity for us to gather, connect, and talk about topics you wish to develop. Please sign up using your UoW email address. Shortly before the event, a link to the session (MS Teams) will be sent to those registered.
