Policy which is informed by evidence is stronger, more effective, and provides better value for public spending. By using research expertise we can make a positive difference to the UK economy, our wellbeing and to the world around us. Yet, for research expertise to be useable for local authorities it needs to get better at understanding the barriers and challenges to research uptake.

We’ll be hearing from the Capabilities in Academic Policy Engagement team, introducing a new £4M Research England Funded project and then breaking in to groups to understand the evidence needs of local government and how through funded policy fellowships, co-produced projects, roundtables, training and other policy engagement interventions we can support them.
