Event description
Over the week we will be designing lessons based on the hypothesis: We can help children learn to not bully. This event is for everyone!

About this Event

This is our opportunity to be brave, take on a challenge and contribute to something valuable...we hope! If you can accept feeling a bit uncomfortable and step into a challenging space, where we focus on difficult work. We would love to have you.

Hypothesis: We can help children learn to not bully.

Target: Build comfort with difference and knowledge of racism, disability and other protected characteristics.

Who is this event for?

This event is for anyone who has personal experience, expertise and ideas they want to share...so pretty much everyone.

What will the event look like?

There will be daily sessions from 3.30pm to 5pm for the length of the Firestarter Festival (1st-5th February). It would be great to come to every session, but if you can only make one that’s great too. It will be a mix of discussions, activities and interviews sharing lived experiences. We will be using a couple of collaborative design platforms throughout the week, which will be available all day, so if you can’t make a session or want to add something out-with the sessions you can.

The week will look like this. On Monday, we will map out the problem. On Tuesday, we will sketch a wide range of possible solutions. On Wednesday, we will decide which of our ideas to turn into a testable lesson plan. On Thursday, we will create a working lesson plan. And on Friday, we will test it with real live humans. The final lesson will be freely available to download.

This whole process is an experiment, so we are not guaranteeing success. To give us a good chance of success we are leaning on ‘The Scottish Approach to Service Design’ and the GV (Google Ventures) Design Sprint process (links in the references at the end).

You don’t need to know anything about either to participate. We want you for you. Your experience, thoughts and ideas are the only thing you need to bring.
