Event description

Description

In aid of the Marine Conservation Society, the UK’s leading marine charity. An evening of public speaking, networking and discussion to increase awareness of the damage being done to our planet and how you can help it recover.

Speakers:

The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading marine charity. Their main aim is to ensure our seas are healthy, pollution free and protected. For example, by working towards reducing rubbish waste in our seas and clamping down on overfishing which threatens our marine ecosystem.

John Halladay, representative from Greenpeace which is a renowned non-governmental environmental organisation that confronts environmental abuse and promotes ending climate change, defending oceans and protecting our forests.

David Lyons, Green Party councillor for Aylesbury Vale District Council elected on the 7th March 2019. The Green Party aims to end the system that keeps hurting the environment and build a better alternative.

Sea Shepherd UK was established in 1977 and it’s mission is to end the destruction of habitat and the slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.

The evening is at The Queens Hall at The Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe. It begins at 6:30pm and ends at 9pm with an interval in between. Refreshments and nibbles will be provided.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with the wider debate on climate change and network with representatives from leading environmental organisations. It is also a great event to add to your personal statement as attendance will show initiative, interest and ambition.
