About this Event

Some 80% of UK environmental law is said to emanate from the EU. With the coming of Brexit, the UK will be free to reconfigure this framework should it wish to do so. On one hand, there may be a call to bolster environmental regulation and to become leaders in environmental protection and the building of a green economy. On the other hand, stricter environmental standards may be seen as a possible barrier to growth and to the conclusion of much needed trade agreements. It is most timely, therefore, to ask how well environmental regulation has performed. For all the calls for strict regulation, not all indicators suggest continuing environmental improvement. So what works and what doesn't?

This timely event offers the chance to debate this significant question.Chair: Pamela Castle OBESpeakers:
