About Fast Forward 2030

Fast Forward 2030 is a network and platform of entrepreneurs who believe that in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), entrepreneurs need to incorporate them into their business models. We're organising an event series to promote this new approach to business, showing that with the right approach, entrepreneurs can build businesses that are vehicles towards a sustainable world.

This Event

Every other month, we bring together entrepreneurs – both aspiring and established, investors, sustainability professionals, students and academics to consider the role entrepreneurs can play in meeting different elements of the SDGs.

This May, we want to shine a light on our ambition of a future of clean and affordable energy for all, asking what entrepreneurs can do to make this happen as soon as possible. The SDGs call on us to "Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all". Come and learn from people who are changing the way energy works for the better.

Guest Speakers:

  • Hayden Wood, Co-Founder of Bulb. Bulb is a startup energy supplier that provides 100% renewable electricity and gas to homes across the UK, in an affordable and efficient way.
  • Alice Tyler, Co-Founder of Open Utility, the company behind Piclo. Piclo is a cloud hosted suite of services that enable households and businesses to participate in their local energy community. Current services include peer-to-peer energy matching and local flexibility trading.
  • Caroline Angus, CEO of Deciwatt, the comapny behind GravityLight. GravityLight provides instant off-grid light powered by weight, anytime.

The evening will be chaired by Arthur Kay, Founder of BioBean and FastForward 2030.

Your ticket includes:

  • A great talk and Q&A session from our guest speakers, TBC
  • Ethically sourced drinks and snacks from our event partners Toast Ale and Elysia Catering
  • Networking and chatting with speakers, and the board members of Fast Forward 2030

Why the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals?

There are 17 SDGs with 169 targets - but don’t let this put you off. They are the first comprehensive plan for the whole of humanity to flourish within the means of the planet. This makes them a good framework for people who want to have an impact. They also set a direct challenge to the private sector by insisting that the environmental and social impact of the way we do business can no longer be an afterthought, or an add-on. They need to be at the very heart of how, and why our economies and businesses function. Fast Forward 2030 exists to encourage and inspire businesses that embody this.
