This one-hour master class will demystify Microsoft Fabric as the leading system-wide approach for modern analytics and explain why Power BI is a cornerstone for powerful, organization-wide business intelligence.
The session will build a clear picture of Microsoft’s vision for business best practice by leveraging Fabric’s integrated ecosystem, with Power BI at its core. Through practical examples and live demonstrations, including performance and intelligence reporting, you’ll learn both standard and unconventional ways to turn raw data into actionable business insight.
This session will very much build a more holistic understanding in how PowerBI can be used within a multitude of environments. This session will only touch upon the different aspects outlined below; PowerBI has so many additional additional features for users to explore!

Understand Microsoft Fabric:
- See how Fabric brings together data integration, dataflows, governance, and security, and provides a unified data experience across the entire Microsoft ecosystem.
Discover Why Power BI Is So Powerful:
- Understand Power BI’s role as the primary BI and analytics tool within Fabric - offering interactive dashboards, real-time visualization, and deep integration with organizational data assets.
- Compare the capabilities of Power BI Desktop (for building reports) and Power BI Service (for publishing, sharing, and collaboration).
Explore Microsoft’s "Best Practice" for Business Analytics:
- Recognise the value of a system-wide approach, centralising data, ensuring security, improving collaboration, and delivering actionable insights across the business.
Performance Reporting in Power BI:
- Review real-world dashboards, track sales, financials, operational KPIs, project health, and executive metrics, with drill-down and interactivity for actionable performance monitoring - including the 'performance optimizer' within the Microsoft platform.
"Intelligence" Reporting in Power BI:
- Move beyond performance - see how analytics, AI, and natural language capabilities (like Q&A and Copilot) deliver predictive and prescriptive insights, not just historical reporting.
Creative Uses & “Abusing” Power BI:
- Hear examples of unconventional and advanced Power BI projects, such as personal data mashups, cross-functional analytics, and outside-the-box problem-solving.
- Get inspiration for stretching Power BI beyond traditional business dashboards.
As this training is Part-Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund there will be some paperwork for attendees to complete (this only needs completing once and not required for every masterclass).
