Description

The prestigious Frank May Clinical Sciences Lecture 2017.

Free public lecture to be given by Professor Chris Whitty, Chief Scientific Adviser for the Department of Health

Synopsis:

The next two decades will see major shifts in health, medicine and diseases in the UK, Europe and the wider world. Demography and changes in the relative importance of diseases including cardiovascular diseases (heart disease and stroke), cancer and infectious diseases will all play a role. Scientific advances, changes in population structure and global trends are largely predicable over the next 2 decades. Their effects on both health and medical care in the next 20 years will be profound. This lecture will consider the implications for the UK of these national and global trends.
