Monthly Workshops for Life & Living

Regain the suppleness and flexibility of your chest and improve your organisation for functional movement when upright!

Our chest, or a rib cage, is an assembly of twelve pairs of ribs and spinal vertebrae and a breastbone and front cartilage, all articulated via 98 joints. It is constructed to give us flexibility and freedom of movement in all directions while protecting our heart and lungs.

Experiencing our chest as a three-dimensional volume, which is adaptable and utilises its mobile structure, profoundly affects how the trunk gets balanced on the legs and how it supports the head – in other words, how well we are organised for functional movement when upright!

Many of us have developed habits of tension, tightness, and restricted movement in our chest, which can affect the freedom of movement of our head and neck, the comfort of our shoulders and back, our posture, and the way we walk and sit. It also affects the movement of our diaphragm and our breathing and can produce feelings of apprehension and anxiety.

Join the session and experience a sophisticated combination of movement and attention to help you feel more upright, improve your breathing, promote your sense of security and well-being, and improve the freedom of movement in all directions.

Closely related to the September, October, and December workshop, all working together towards improving your overall organisation when upright. Whilst each workshop can be experienced independently, in order to maximise the benefits, I recommend attending as many as you can.


Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons consist of a series of gentle, ingenious movements, verbally directed and exploratory in nature. There are hundreds of lessons which focus on different themes and interconnections between the nervous system, the muscles, the skeletal system, and our responses to the world around us.

Each month we focus on a different theme keeping us engaged in building a clearer image of ourselves, by paying attention to our sensations as we move. Broadly beneficial and appropriate for people of all ages, interests and abilities.

Wear comfortable layered clothing. Please bring your own floor mat to lie on if you can (some mats will be provided if you do not bring yours).
