Event description
The fantastic poet and tutor, Jim Otieno-Hall invites you to discover new and playful ways to create your poems!

About this event

This three-part course will interrogate the pressure we put on ourselves to get started when it comes to poem-making, and look instead to curating a sense of inspiration being literally 'everywhere'.

We will try out new tricks, tips, techniques and exercises to support us get started in writing a poem - from getting out of our own way, to using overlooked sources as start-points for new poems.

Ultimately, this course will seek to curate a sense of play, potential and possibility around the many ways we can make poems happen on the page, and leave you with a stronger sense of your own process as a poet.

Throughout this course you will...

  • Uncover new, fresh and exciting ways to 'start' a poem.
  • Learn how other poets 'make' poems - their processes, their ways 'in' to the page.
  • Try out new, unexplored areas / themes / content for poems.
  • Write, share, and discuss together our poems, processes, and experience of how poems happens for us.
