Event description

Description

Radical Home Cinema is an experimental programming and exhibition event where film lovers invite you to watch films in their homes. This event aims to break down the boundaries between public and private audiences, to present films in unexpected places and to turn the viewing experience into something completely new. Radical Home Cinema is a section of Scalarama.

As part of Scalarama 2017, the bay window space of a tenement living room is converted for use as a cinerama, for a showing of How the West Was Won (1962).

Richard Martin is a Glasgow based artist who works with site-specificity, often creating immersive installations and interventions that disrupt both how we use spaces and objects, and how we are expected to behave in relation to them. You can visit his website here: http://www.richardgeographic.com/

Film:

How The West Was Won: A landmark MGM epic western, it was made using the three camera Cinerama process for projection onto a curved screen. Billed as a 'star-fest', the film is a coming together of celebrity, technological gimmickry and myth making.

The film will be running throughout the day from midday, if you want to see the cinerama in action, with a full free-but-ticketed screening at 4pm.
