How to achieve Honours at your

30th April ’17 15.00 - 16.30h

St Clement’s Hall

286 Fulham Palace Road

London SW6 6DS

Beautiful dance comes from a thorough understanding of technique”

Yvonne Saunders

Dance exams can be daunting and everyone works hard to pass them with the flying colours.

Nerves and excitement play a great part on the final day.

You know your choreographies by heart but is that enough to get the marks you want?

What is it that examiners actually look for during your demonstrations?

What are the most common mistakes and how to prevent them?

What should you focus on to get the best results?

There is no better person to answer these questions than an Examiner herself.

We are excited to organize a workshop with

IDTA Director and Examiner

Yvonne Saunders

who will give you all the necessary information about taking

IDTA Ballroom and Latin Dance Exams,

Tips on how to improve your marks,

Things to avoid and what to focus on.

Please note that some dance practice/demonstration will be involved.

Yvonne Saunders began her teaching career at the Wimbledon Dance Studios,

qualifying as an Associate at 17.

In 1975 she joined "Top of the Stairs", the Norbury studio of Michael Stylianos and Lorna Lee (five times British Champions and currently organizers of one of the biggest Ballroom and Latin Dance competitions and Carl Alan Awards).

She continued to study and develop her interest and ability in teaching technique.

In 1985, after taking her Fellowship Examinations in all three branches, she was appointed an Examiner of the International Dance Teachers Association, fulfilling one of her ambitions.

Today Yvonne Saunders is a Director of IDTA.

Since 1993, Yvonne has taught at the prestigious Dance Options studio in Cheam where she trains many students for professional examinations both from the UK and overseas.

She teaches beginners through to advanced amateurs and world class competitors.

Yvonne has been also invited to many countries to teach and give lectures. For 26 years Yvonne has had a strong association with Finland with the Polytechnic in Oulu, Northern Finland, of which Yvonne is frequently invited to examine their students as part of their assessment during their four year degree course in Dance. She has worked in the Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey assisting the students with developing a dance programme.

Her aim is always to try and encourage the promotion of dance no matter where, whether at home in England or overseas.
