About this event

In part one, Kirstie discussed neurodiversity, what it means and why it matters within the veterinary sector.

In this follow-up session, we’ll focus on how veterinary practices can take proactive steps to affirm and support neurodivergent individuals, both staff and pet carers. Discover how to design inclusive spaces, adapt communication strategies, and create a more accessible and welcoming environment for everyone.

Topics include:

  • Creating inclusive physical and social spaces

  • Communicating with clarity and flexibility

  • Adjustments that can support neurodivergent employees

  • Meeting the needs of neurodivergent pet carers

About our speaker: Kirstie is an autistic ADHD equine internal medicine specialist with experience in both private practice and academia. She also has a PG Certificate in Counselling Skills and is a qualified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Coach. She provides workplace neurodiversity and mental health training, as well as workshops and coaching for neurodivergent individuals through her company, Unedited Minds. Kirstie is also EDI Lead at Harper Keele Veterinary School and a Trustee of Vetlife. Kirstie has published research on the workplace stressors of autistic vets and is currently working with the RCVS on recommendations for supporting neurodivergent vet and vet nurse students.
