Using the experience from a range of seemingly disparate professions, including stand-up comedians and preachers, this session will explore what we can borrow and then transplant into the higher education environment.
It will consider how incentives are used, how to establish initial engagement and then to maintain this, how to encourage participation, to provoke responses and ultimately to leave an audience wanting more, enthused by the experience so they continue to discuss the content or ideas after the event.
We will consider a range of approaches used by other professionals and examine the underlying rationales to see how we may be able to adapt these to the higher education learning environments that we are familiar with.
